Creating a social media presence is not the end of the process for engagement. Even if you build a profile, no one will friend you, no one will fan you. There are many posts (including in this blog) that discuss successful social media engagement. However, this post offers some quick marketing tips to promote your social media Page or Profile.

No-cost/low cost promotion:

  • Add URLs to email signature
  • Add URLs to home page of your website to invite people to join and learn more
  • Add URLs to job descriptions on any website/online job postings
  • Send auto-respond email acknowledging incoming inquiries to your company along with information on how else they can connect with you online
  • Email invites to employees, customers and prospects

On Social Media Sites:

  • As an individual, join Groups and Fan Pages on Facebook
  • A Facebook Page can Fan other Pages (gain awareness as a member)
  • Invite individuals to join your Group through direct invitations
  • Create events and send members an invitation and encourage them to invite others
  • Hold contests/offer incentives to join

Advertising:

  • Facebook ads promoting Facebook Page
  • LinkedIn ads promoting LinkedIn Group
  • Google Adwords campaign promoting any social media presence
  • Add URLs to any advertising for your company where appropriate

It goes without saying that once people join your Group, Fan your Page, Friend or Follow you, the only way to keep them loyal is to continually provide compelling content and opportunities for engagement that ad value or entertain.
