Hi Peter-

Thanks for the comment! We have actually been doing some research ourselves on Facebook contests and you are correct - there are many rules and restrictions on using Facebook to promote a content. My colleague Kate Lee recently wrote a great blog post that talks about these strict guidelines: http://www.techaffect.com/2010/08/26/my-company-wants-to-do-a-facebook-contest-%E2%80%93-now-what/

We created this tip sheet before we were aware of these regulations but plan on updating the information when we update our Social Media Success Series in the next few weeks.

Thanks again for the info!

I actually have been doing some research on social media marketing and Facebook contests. You're datasheets have some great ideas. I did notice though, in point 7 about Facebook
<blockquote>"Consider conducting a contest or giveaway that only friends/fans can enter to win – encouraging them to invite friends or spread the word about your Facebook presence." </blockquote>
Requiring someone to 'become a fan' or 'like' your page in order to participate in a contest is a violation of the Facebook terms of service. Running a contest on FB has become a sticky subject... It's such a good idea and I'm sure people are still doing it, but I would be aware that it could potentially get your FB page into trouble.

The SM Measurement Matrix is pretty neat. If you're able to add a quality component, even better.
