I just read the post Under Fire, Bob Kerrey Starts a Blog on the New York Times City Room blog. The rather accusatory headline stopped me in my tracks. It seems to suggest that starting a blog under duress can actually undermine the benefits of blogging in the first place. Why should CEOs, or, in [...]

It seems that everyday there is a new social media network that you MUST join. Even on the social media sites that you already have a profile, there are new groups, discussions and projects that plead for your attention. Sometimes it can be so overwhelming that people are paralyzed and really don’t effectively engage in [...]

I read a nice quick and dirty article about “blogger relations” in Entreprenuer magazine yesterday by columnist Guy Kawasaki. Although I don’t think that bloggers need any ‘special’ relationship rules (because we should just treat them like journalists and real people) I do think that Guy’s list gives a great rundown of the common sense [...]

If you weren’t lucky enough to squeeze into the PRSA-NY Blogger Social event last night, here are some pictures and video to help you get the feel. The participants were Richard Laermer, president, RLM PR, Constantin Basturea, director of new media strategy, Converseon and Steve Rubel, senior vice president, me2revolution group, Edelman. It was a cross between [...]

I had the pleasure of hearing Derek Gordon, VP Marketing for Technorati, speak at a PRSA-NY job fair this past Saturday. Gordon had some great sound bytes and interesting anecdotes about the blogosphere and PR. One of the issues that he discussed was what he deemed as a primary tenet of PR being about ‘control’. [...]
